In Jikiden Reiki, Shihan is the second of the teacher levels. Shihan means 'Teacher' in Japanese. We often casually call the Shihan level the 'Full Teacher' level in English to emphasize the difference between the shihan and shihankaku levels. Where a Shihankaku level teacher can only teach the shoden level seminars, a Shihan level teacher can teach the full Jikiden Reiki seminar (shoden and okuden).  Shihan level seminars in Jikiden Reiki are taught only by Tadao Yamaguchi (Jikiden Reiki Institute Representative), or Frank Arjava Petter (Jikiden Reiki Institute Vice-Representative).

If you are interested in Jikiden Reiki teacher level training, please contact Jotaro and he will assist you in finding a teacher that works for you.

Jikiden Reiki Shihan Seminar Prerequisites -

  • Agree to observe the objectives of Jikiden Reiki and the regulations of the Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai (Institute).

  • Been practicing as a Jikiden Reiki Shihankaku for a minimum of six months (for non-Japan residents it is recommended a year due to the difficulties of re-sitting the seminars with Tadao Yamaguchi or Arjava).

  • You should have taught a minimum of 10 Jikiden Reiki shoden level seminars and provide written feedback from at least 10 of your students.

  • Re-sit the shoden and okuden seminars at least one more time with either Tadao Yamaguchi or Frank Arjava Petter.

  • Be prepared to answer seminar review questions. The questions will be sent to you upon registering for the Shihan seminar. These questions are commonly asked by participants during seminars.

  • Be committed to living in accordance with the Reiki Gokai (five Reiki precepts).

  • Have a strong desire to spread Jikiden Reiki as much as possible.

Jikiden Reiki Shihan Have The Right To -

  • Hold full Jikiden Reiki seminars - Shoden (sections 1/2/3) and Okuden (sections 1/2) at the same cost to participants as the seminars conducted by the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan.

  • Hold Jikiden Reiki Reijukai (reiju meetings), workshops and demonstration sessions.

  • purchase a copy of 'Gokai no Sho' - a scroll depicting the five principles of Reiki - written by Mr. Hayashi using beautiful calligraphy - and photographs of Usui sensei, Hayashi sensei and Chiyoko sensei (It is not mandatory at this point to buy the scroll in order to teach Shoden level as an assistant teacher).

  • Establish and coordinate a branch of the JIkiden Reiki Kenkyukai (Institute).
